NADMO To Embark On Mass Billboard Demolishing After Collapsed Building Incident In Cape Coast

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Central Region have hinted to proceed on an exercise that will have huge billboards mounted at disadvantageous positions in the region, posing hazard to livelihood to be clampdown.

NADMO Director for the Central Region, Mr. Kwesi Mensah Dawood, made the announcement on Tuesday, 24th May, 2025 upon visiting the scene which witnessed the collapsing of a building structure at London Bridge in Cape Coast which took the life of two persons.

According to him, the activity soon to embark upon, falls under the organization’s safety mechanisms laid down to protect lives and properties, having witnessed series of disasters occur in the Central Region in less than a month now, with about 11 districts and municipalities getting affected and over 4,000 individuals falling victims to these disasters.

He, however, appealed on corporate entities and benevolent individuals to partner the Central Region NADMO directorate to offer help to persons affected by these natural phenomenon, particularly to those affected by the collapsed building in Cape Coast which occured on Saturday, June 21, 2025, after hours of heavy rainfall in the morning.

Mr. Kwesi Dawood again appealed on residents of Cape Coast to cooperate with the NADMO Disaster Management Team, headed by the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur in its ongoing demolishing exercise on weak building structures in the metropolis.

He detailed that a number of three (3) buildings have so far been pulled down by the NADMO Disaster Management Team in collaboration with the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), specifically at Zion School, Brofoyedur and the collapsed London Bridge building, with a host other earmarked for demolishing.

Other affected victims of the collapsed London Bridge building equally pleaded on charitable institutions and individuals to come to their aid with the little support they can, having recounted to have lost everything to the incident.
