Police Arrest 3 Notorious Armed Robbers Who Attacked Gold Buyer And Farmer At Assin North

In a swift and tactical operation, the Central North Regional Police Command based in Assin Fosu has arrested three suspected armed robbers linked to a violent attack on a gold buyer, Kwabena Amos, 37, and a farmer, Richard Kumah, 33, at Assin Ntow-Krom in the Assin North District of the Central Region.
The suspects, Godwin Kwabena Mensah, 28, Kwadwo Frimpong, 20, and Kwabena Antwi, 30, are believed to be part of a five-member gang that staged a midnight raid on the victims’ residence around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
Armed with a three-barrelled pump-action gun and machetes, the robbers fired at least eight gunshots at the victim during the attack.
Kwabena Amos sustained serious injuries, including a machete wound and severe facial injuries after being struck with a gun barrel, which left his right eye badly affected.
His younger brother, Richard Kumah was also targeted but miraculously escaped injury, which family members attributed to spiritual fortification.
After a physical struggle with the victims, the robbers abandoned the operation and fled.
At a media briefing, Central North Regional Police Commander DCOP Abraham Acquaye disclosed that the suspects had earlier visited the area posing as job seekers a ruse now understood to be part of a surveillance strategy before the attack.
He said the arrests were made based on credible intelligence and swift action by police.
A coordinated response was launched with alerts sent to checkpoints across the region, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Police retrieved two pump-action guns, a sharpened machete, nine spent cartridges, and a talisman believed to be used for protection.
“We are intensifying efforts to arrest the remaining accomplices. This operation demonstrates our strong commitment to tackling armed robbery and safeguarding lives,” DCOP Acquaye stated.
He commended the patrol team for their courage during a brief but intense exchange of gunfire that resulted in the arrest of the three suspects.
DCOP Abraham Acquaye also issued a strong warning to criminals operating within the Central North Region, cautioning them to desist from their unlawful activities or face the full force of the law.
He emphasized that the police remain vigilant and are fully committed to clamping down on all forms of criminal activity.
According to him, the recent arrests and ongoing operations are just the beginning of a broader strategy to restore and maintain peace in the region.
He urged individuals involved in armed robbery, theft, land guard activities, and other crimes to turn over a new leaf, as the police will not relent in their efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice.
