Assin Central NDC Supporters Storm Police Station To Demand Release Of Party Members

A serious unrest has erupted within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Assin Central Constituency of the Central Region, whilst (3 )three branch executives—Andoh Ohenebeng, Boadi Kwame Prince, and Isaac Agyapong have been detained for a week at the Twifo-Top Praso Police Station.

According to court, they face allegations of verbally insulting Professor Aseidu, the Central Regional Chairman of the NDC.

The accused were arrested and remanded by the District Circuit Court at Assin Nsuaem Kyekyewere, sparking outrage among party supporters.

Yesterday Wednesday 2nd July 2025, a large group of NDC members stormed at the police station, protesting massively for the immediate release of their detained colleagues.

Protesters, dressed in the party’s colours and chanting slogans in support of 3 accused persons, voiced their dissatisfaction with what they consider an unjustice.

Madam Charlotte Boakye, the rejected President nominee for Assin Central MCE addressing the media at police premises, condemned the arrests as an intimidation tactic orchestrated by the regional chairman to silence supporters of the Member of Parliament and herself.

Madam Boakye revealed that the chairman was aggrieved by a press conference organized by the accused persons or her supporters, which he claimed contained defamatory remarks damaging to his reputation, which he feels that these branch executives will jail.

She warned that such internal disputes risk the collapse of the NDC’s branch structure in Assin Central and called on Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to intervene urgently.

We’re tired of Prof Aseidu intimidation in ndc party in central region.

Meanwhile, Mr. Emmanuel Abdoni, the constituency communication officer, who kneel down in live camera has appealed to the national party headquarters to address the crisis and secure the release of the detained members.
