Gyedu Bamboo Bicycle Factory Abandoned In The Bush

The Gyedu Bamboo Bicycle Factory, located in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region, has collapsed and now lies abandoned in the bush.

Constructed in September 2016 with funding from the Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF), the factory was once a promising initiative producing bicycles made from bamboo.

According to the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North Constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the factory has been non-functional for the past four to five years.

He disclosed that plans are underway, in collaboration with the Ahafo Regional Minister and traditional authorities (Nananom), to rehabilitate the facility and possibly convert it into an office space for a public instiinstitution.
