The Okada Riders Association of Assin Central Constituency has officially distanced itself from one of the armed robbery suspects who claimed to be an Okada rider following his arrest by the police last week.
The Central North Regional Police Command recently arrested three individuals for attacking a gold buyer at Assin Ntowkrom near Assin Sienchiem.
The robbers, armed with a pump-action gun and a cutlass, shot their victims eight times during the attack—though miraculously, none of the victims died.
Speaking to the media, the Chairman of the Assin Central Okada Riders Association, Mr. Bernard Amoah, clarified that none of the arrested suspects belong to their association, despite the suspect’s claim during a police press briefing.
He stated that thorough checks across all Okada stations in the constituency confirmed that one of the suspects, Godwin Kwabena Mensah, has never been registered or known as a member of their operations.
Mr. Amoah emphasized that not everyone riding a motorbike is an Okada rider and urged the public to avoid generalizing such criminal activities to their profession.
Some riders also voiced their disapproval of the false association and encouraged the public to disregard such misinformation and continue patronizing their services.
