The Dangme Youth for Development Association has issued a warning to authorities, stating that they will protest against two popular festivals in Kroboland if the deplorable roads in the area are not fixed by September 2025.
The festivals in question are the *Kloyisikplemi Festival* at Somanya and the *Ngmayem Festival*,at Krobo Odumase both of which are significant cultural events in the Krobo and Dangme enclaves.
Speaking to the media, *Simon Teye*, President of the Dangme Youth for Development Association, expressed frustration over the poor state of the roads, citing the abandoned road construction from Somanya to Krobo Odumase and abandoned Oterkpolu bridge which was constructed in 1923 as a prime example.
“We want to see the contractor back on site and continuing the road construction,” he emphasized.
According to him, the poor roads have made it difficult for residents to access basic amenities and have also hindered economic activities in the area which he believes they can’t continue to suffer in silence while their roads are in this deplorable state.
They are therefore giving an ultimatum to authorities to fix their roads by September 2025, failing which we will take to the streets and protest during the upcoming festivals.
In an interview with the drivers on the Somanya to Krobo Odumase road expressed frustration over the poor condition of the road, citing frequent breakdowns and expensive repairs.
