Mfantseman MCE Storms Mankessim Market, Vows Action Against Encroachers – Promises Ultra-Modern Market Project Under Mahama.

In a passionate and strategic visit to the heart of the Mfantseman Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah, affectionately and widely acclaimed as Mfantseman KK has made bold revelations and issued stern warnings during his tour of the Mankessim Market.
Accompanied by key officials from the Assembly and a delegation of queen mothers, the MCE was welcomed by the leadership of the market, led by the respected Market Queen Mother, Auntie Aggie.
The MCE began his interaction with warm gratitude, thanking the market women for their unflinching support throughout his tenure.
“You have stood by me, and I deeply appreciate your love and efforts in keeping this market functional despite the many challenges,” he said.
In a surprising disclosure that has stirred excitement among traders and residents alike, Hon. Acquah announced that President John Dramani Mahama has expressed intentions to construct an ultra-modern market facility for the people of Mankessim.
According to the MCE, the envisioned market complex will not only serve as a trading hub but will also host critical amenities such as a school, a fire service post, a police station, a fuel station, and a modern lighting system to enhance safety and convenience.
Hon. Acquah further requested that market women deliberate and decide on the preferred location for the project whether it should be built at the existing Old Market site or relocated to the Gyedu area.
However, the visit also revealed disturbing developments that drew the MCE’s ire.
As he walked through the market lanes, the MCE expressed disappointment over the state of sanitation and disorderliness within the market space.
He pointed out piles of uncollected rubbish, illegal structures erected in unauthorized areas, and more worryingly, portions of market lands that have reportedly been sold to unknown private individuals and families, acts he described as unacceptable and an affront to municipal development.

The Market Queen Mother, Auntie Agnes Moore seized the moment to raise serious concerns about security.
She lamented the activities of individuals who deliberately dump refuse at unauthorized points and stressed the urgent need for security personnel to patrol and monitor the market to curb such lawlessness.
She gave her unequivocal endorsement for the proposed market to be constructed on the original site, where the existing old market currently stands.
She issued a stern caution to the government, emphatically insisting that the market must be constructed at its original location, warning that any attempt to relocate it elsewhere would render the investment futile and amount to a monumental waste of public funds.
Additionally, she urged the Assembly to intensify efforts in combating the prevailing sanitation challenges within the market, emphasizing the urgent need for proactive measures to restore cleanliness and order.
In response, the MCE assured the gathering that the Assembly had acquired a new waste disposal truck to address the garbage crisis and reiterated his commitment to restore order in the market.
He firmly stated that those operating in unauthorized areas would soon be cleared and steps would be taken to reclaim all encroached lands that rightfully belong to the market.
