Members Of Kotoku Task Force Beats 29 Year Old To Death

A 29-year-old Okada rider Kwaku Eric, a married man with two children, has met his untimely death after members of an illegal mining task force physically assaulted him until he fell unconscious in Amenam, a mining community in the Birim North Municipality of the Eastern region.

Reports indicates that leader of the said task force, Isaac Asante, who is also a miner, greeted a woman who sells roasted maize but she didn’t respond.

Isaac Asante got infuriated by the woman’s actions and pushed her setup including the maize unto the streets.


Kwaku Eric who had bought some of the maize and was then waiting for it to be ready questioned why Isaac would do such a thing but he was given a hot slap.

This led to a heated argument but some community members separated them.


Kwaku Eric decided to go and report the assault at Abirem police station but on his way, he was accosted by Isaac and two of his thugs who assaulted him with their guns.

Kwaku was sent to the Abirem Government Hospital for treatment but died the next day while still in coma.

His body has been deposited at the I and I mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, Isaac Asante has been arrested but the other two accomplices are on the run.

The deceased’s father, Baba Moses, has appealed to the government to bring the perpetrators to justice and release his son’s body for burial.
