Initiate Educational Policies That Would Fit This Generation For The 21st Century- Ashanti GNAT Chair Urges Government

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Mr Prosper Takyi, has called on policy makers of the country to initiate measures that would support teachers to teach and train this generation and those to come to fit in the 21st century.

According to him, the world is changing, and Africa is changing, which Ghana is part of it and how teaching and learning were done in the olden days is also changing which has called for the need for new methods that would make the educational sector modernise to meet the 21st-century standard.

He stressed the need for policymakers who play a role in the education sector to ensure good measures are implemented for the country’s educational sector for the betterment of this generation and new ones to come without politicising it.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of GNAT continues that when such policies are implemented, it would help make the work of teachers in the country easier so they can bring up generations that would be fit for the 21st century.

Mr Prosper Takyi made this statement during the 7th Quadrennial 54th Regional Delegates Conference of the association on the theme “Educating an Africa Fit for the 21st Century: The Role of Policy Makers and the Unions in Ghana”

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, who graced the occasion, expressed the government’s appreciation to teachers for their continuous and immense support towards the country.

He outlined the policies of this government that are aimed at ensuring that the demands of teachers are met and provided by the government to make their work very convenient.
