Volta Regional Minister Urges Presiding Members And DCE’s To Think Outside The Box

The 2025 Volta Regional Annual Conference of Presiding Members kicked off in grand style on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho.
The three-day event is being held under the theme “Resetting Local Leadership for National Rebuilding: Advancing Decentralization, Participation, and Sustainable Development.”
The event brought together all Presiding Members from the 18 districts of the Volta Region, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), and other distinguished stakeholders in governance.
Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, in his opening address, urged Presiding Members to think outside the box and play more strategic roles in addressing the region’s developmental challenges.
He emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between PMs and MDCEs to deepen local governance and ensure sustainable growth.
The keynote address was delivered by the Special Guest of Honour, H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, Volta Region’s representative on the Council of State, who praised the role of Presiding Members in strengthening democracy at the grassroots level.
As part of the ceremony, all Presiding Members were decorated in elegant ceremonial gowns and presented with customized items and cash donations, courtesy of H.E. Atokple, as a show of appreciation for their service.
Other highlights included presentations from key partners like Zoomlion Ghana Ltd., and a technical session on improving collaboration between local government structures for effective development planning.
The conference continues until Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
