Winneba Division Attempted Robbery

On 15/08/2025 about 01:50 hours, while the Winneba Police Patrol team were on their routine Patrols received information that some armed men with face masks were attacking and robbing a Microfin Rural Bank at Pomadze opposite Perez University Junction.

On receipt of the information, the patrol team proceeded to the robbery scene and on sighting police, the armed men opened fire on police and some bullets hit the front view of the patrol vehicle but no one sustained injury.

Police retaliated and the armed men took to their heels.

A search conducted at the bank premises revealed that four security men who were on night duty were found tied up with white robes, a welding-cutting machine, a screw driver, two empty BB cartridges spent shells, two iron bars, one saw blade, two sharp cutting plates, two new padlocks, a pump machine gun, cartridges and a set of door lockers.

All entrances and exit doors of the bank were broken by the robbers.

Spot Investigations in the banking hall also revealed that no money was taken from the bank due to early Police response.

The Central Regional Police Command assures the public and the people of Pomadze that the armed culprits will be apprehended to face the full rigours of the law.

Investigation is ongoing.
