Okere District Assembly Enact By-Laws To Arrest Students Loitering In Town After 7 Pm

The Okere District Assembly in the Eastern Region has gazetted a by-law to permit them to arrest students loitering in town after 7 Pm with a fine.

Speaking in an interview with the DCE of the area,  Eric Williams Ayettey stated that, this initiative is aimed at ensuring students in the district take their education seriously as there is a decline in the districts performance in recent B.E.C.E .

According to him, any student found loitering in town especially in pubs, drinking bars after 7 Pm will be arrested to the nearest police station where their parents or guardians will be fined to serve as an example to others.

He expressed confidence that this move will help boost students academic performance in the district going forward.

He urged all to rally support for the benefits of the future generation for the country and Ghana as a whole.

Some of the assembly Members namely; Haruna Ayuba Mohammad, Rita Elikem Sabla and Daniel Ayimadu urge colleague members, traditional leaders and residents to rally support for the DCE to help develop the district.

He made this statement during the first ordinary meeting with the Okere district Assembly
