Energy Minister Acknowledges Energy Sector Challenges, Commends Ghana Gas For Role In Stabilization

Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has admitted that Ghana’s energy sector was in deep crisis when he assumed office earlier this year, but praised the Ghana National Gas Company for its instrumental role in stabilizing the situation.
The Minister made these remarks when he paid a working visit to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant to interact with management and staff, and to encourage them to continue giving their best.
He revealed that records from GRIDCo indicated that in 2024, every single month experienced some form of load shedding, with the power deficit hitting about 700 megawatts in December alone.
Mr. Jinapor commended Ghana Gas for being a pillar in the delivery of gas for power generation, industrial use and LPG for households.
He stressed that the company’s role has been central in addressing the power challenges.
The Minister’s visit is to appraise himself of The on going maintenance shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing plant .
