Government of Ghana have partnered the World bank to provide drainage systems in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi to curb the flooding situations.
Flooding situations seem to get worse every now and then across the country which the Ashanti Region is never left out.
In an attempt to deal with the situation, the government through its Works and Housing Ministry have bold steps to address the flooding challenges in the Greater Kumasi City.
Speaking to the media at a day’s workshop in Kumasi with key stakeholders and leadership of World bank today, the Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, said the government’s steps taken to curb the flooding situations forms part of its resetting agenda.
He said, Kumasi happens to be the first city to witness the kick off of the drainage systems aside the Greater Accra Region which would also be undertaken across the length and width of the country.
He then urged the general public to support the government and the ministry’s efforts.
On the other part, the Minister also urged all and sundry who have built and undertaken any construction at waterlogged areas to evacuate.
He also cautioned people who are yet to build their houses and others at waterlogged areas to desist from that.
