New Number Plates To Enhance Law Enforcement And Reduce Crime – Ashanti Regional Manager DVLA

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) is set to introduce a new vehicle number plate system starting January 1, 2026.
According to the Ashanti Regional DVLA manager, Mr. Jerry Aflabo, the new reforms aim to enhance law enforcement and reduce crime.
The new number plates will meet international standards, featuring a plastic material with a built-in chip that allows the MTTD and police to track vehicles more efficiently.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sompa Fm Bawah Baidoo Mr Aflabo disclosed that, The new plates will no longer display the year of manufacture.
Mr. Aflabo emphasized that the eradication of years on number plates will encourage car owners to register their vehicles promptly, rather than waiting for the following year.
Mr. Aflabo called on owners of unlicensed excavators to register their machines, as using unlicensed vehicles on roads is against the law.
