Sofoline Interchange Plagued By Repeated Cable Theft, Authorities Struggle To Keep Lights On

The Sofoline Interchange in Kumasi is facing a persistent problem with cable theft, which has left the underpass and interchange lights non-functional.

According to the acting resident engineer in charge of the Sofoline interchange project, Mr. Francis Kofi Yankey, the authorities have been unable to keep the lights on due to financial constraints hindering consistent repairs.

Despite efforts to fix the issue, the cables are repeatedly stolen, causing disruptions to the infrastructure.

Speaking in an interview with Angel Tv News reporter Bismark Mensah, Mr. Yankey has warned that anyone caught stealing the cables will face the law when the authorities restore the lights and fix the cables again.

This incident highlights the broader issue of cable theft in Ghana, which not only disrupts infrastructure but also poses safety risks.

The authorities are urged to prioritize infrastructure development and provide support to communities in need.
