Ekawso Community Rises Against Abilas Mining Company

Residents of Kwahu Ekawso in Kwahu West municipality in the Eastern Region are fiercely protesting against Abilas Mining Company’s planned operations, citing concerns over environmental degradation and livelihood impact.
The community fears mining activities will lead to deforestation, water pollution, and soil degradation, affecting their agricultural productivity and access to clean water.
According to Emmanuel Laryeh ,assembly member for Ekawso ,he stated that the community won’t allow any mining operations, regardless of it’s legal documentation.
MCE for Kwahu West ,Tamimu Halidu urges consensus agreement between the community and the mining company, emphasizing Abilas Mining Company’s has the necessary legal documents to operate.
Alhassan Salifu, CEO of Abilas Mining Company also added that ,he believes the community will understand the benefits of operations over time.
