Residents of Asante Akyem Juaso in the Ashanti Region are determined to fight against galamsey activities in their area, citing the devastating effects it’s had on the environment and communities.

They’ve seen firsthand the destruction caused by these activities and are adamant about protecting their land.

Some individuals have arrived in the area claiming to have permission to engage in small-scale mining, but the residents are resolute in their opposition.

Nana Oboa Nipa, the convenor, has stated that they will not allow anyone to engage in galamsey or small-scale mining on their land, citing concerns about the impact on their health and the destruction of their environment.

Nana Oboa Nipa is calling on the authorities to stand firm in support of the community’s stance against galamsey activities.

The residents are united in their determination to protect their land and ensure a safe and healthy environment for themselves and future generations.
