We Are Law Abiding Citizens, So Call Akokoahene And His People To Order–Amantin Traditional Council To Government

The Amantin Traditional Council in the Atebubu- Amantin Municipal of the Bono East Region are calling for the government’s swift intervention over clash between Amantin and Akokoa communities.
According to the council, the riot is caused by a parcel or acres of land at Akokoa which raised a litigation between the Paramount chiefs of Amantin and Atebubu.
But in 1984, court ruled in favor of Paramount chief of Amantin as the rightful owner of the land.
“Our checks has it that the Atebubu Paramount chief has refused to let sleeping dogs lie and has incited his sub-chief who is the chief of Akokoa to harass farmers, Nana Saah Kofi, of Amantin who have been given portions of the land at Akokoa and other neighbouring towns to cultivate.
According to some farmers at Amantin who have gone through hostage and maltreatment by the people of Akokoa, Nana Saah Kofi has incited thugs to maltreat in captivity.
“The Akokoa people have set the house of Amantinmanhene Dabrehene on ablaze, wounded indigenes of Amantin with machetes, guns, wires, sticks and etc”.
They have therefore expressed disappointment in their regional Minister and the regional police commanders for been toothless bulldogs over the situation as none of the perpetrators have been arrested ever since they begun such hooliganism.
Speaking to the media in a presser today, the farmers and residents of Amantin sadly complained about the seizure of their farm lands by the residents of Akokoa which making life very unbearable for them.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the Muslim community in Amantin also smeared pepper by having their motor bikes burnt, threatened with guns in their mediation act to restore peace.
They are also calling on the security agencies to help restore peace and order among the two towns.
“We respect the laws of the country, otherwise, we would have retaliated. So we are by this presser calling on the government to as quick as possible intervene before the situation gets worse”.
