Mpuntuhen Of Oboadze Transforms Impassable Road Into Major Route For Community

Nana Akua Adepa Forjour, the Mpuntuhen of Oboadze under the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region, has achieved a groundbreaking feat by transforming a once impassable and dilapidated road into a vital, accessible route for the Oboadze community. Known privately as Regina Kukua Forjour, Nana Akua’s dedication to her people has sparked a wave of development in this predominantly agrarian settlement, where farming and animal rearing are the main sources of income.
In her media interaction, Nana Akua explained that her decision to lead the road construction project stemmed from her deep love for her community. Coming from a humble background herself, she empathized with the struggles of Oboadze residents, who had long suffered due to the deplorable state of the road. Poor road conditions had led to tragic consequences, including the loss of pregnant women’s lives during emergency trips to healthcare facilities, as well as farmers being unable to transport their produce to nearby markets, which discouraged agricultural growth.
the road construction has already transformed the lives of community members.
Farmers now enjoy easier access to markets, and the community can respond to emergencies faster.
Nana Akua expressed her joy at seeing smiles of gratitude from both the elderly and the youth, attributing their happiness to the newfound mobility and access.
But Nana Akua’s vision doesn’t end there. She announced plans to establish a starch processing facility that will produce commercial-grade cassava starch, further boosting the local economy.
Additionally, she has extended her developmental efforts to providing clean and potable water for the community, ensuring that basic needs are met.
In her closing remarks, Nana Akua urged drivers to exercise caution and discipline while using the new road, emphasizing the importance of cultural maintenance to preserve communal values and infrastructure.
The Ebusuapanyin (family head) of Oboadze, Mr. Atobam, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Nana Akua’s efforts.
He described the road as the community’s most pressing issue, one that had hindered farming and development for years.
He noted that the newly constructed road now connects Oboadze and Nkankabom, two previously isolated communities, fostering inter-community accessibility.
Mr. Atobam sent a strong message to the sitting MP for Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Prince Arhin, urging him to support the ongoing development projects or risk losing his seat, as his predecessor did due to similar inaction.
, The Mbrantehen (youth leader) of Oboadze, Nana Otu Apamboa I, echoed these sentiments, passionately appealing to the government to intervene and support the road project.
He emphasized the importance of completing the construction to facilitate the transportation of farm produce to wider markets and save lives during emergencies.
Several residents shared their joy and gratitude, noting that the road’s construction would usher in socio-economic growth for the people of Oboadze.
The project has not only improved livelihoods but has also united the community in hope and determination for a better future.
