Donorkordzi Bridge In Ho Volta Region Floods Disrupt Lives, Prompt Urgent Call For Government Intervention

Today, the Donorkordzi Bridge, a vital link between Godokpe and Trafalgar in Ho, has been rendered impassable due to severe flooding.
The bridge, which connects key communities, has been submerged in water, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.
Residents have described the situation as dire, with Mr. Daniel Torgan from Hohoe sharing his personal experience of waiting over two hours to cross the bridge, only to be unable to do so.
This is not the first time the bridge has been flooded, and residents are suffering to cross, with some patients having to be carried across the bridge to access medical care.
Mama Rose Letsu, a local resident who sells near the bridge, explained that the flooding occurs every year during the rainy season, posing a significant risk to everyone’s safety.
The bridge’s condition is so dire that it even accommodates dead bodies being transported.
The flooding has also affected students, with one student from Ho Freetown M.A JHS sharing her experience of being unable to go home due to the flooding.
Parents are worried about their children’s safety and whereabouts, often suspecting they might be doing something else before returning home.
The affected residents are calling on the government to take immediate action to address the recurring flooding issue and provide a lasting solution to the problem.
They are pleading the government to prioritize the repair and maintenance of critical infrastructure, including bridges, to prevent such crises in the future.
