Six Injured, 4 Arrested After Police Allegedly Assault Taxi Driver’s During Funeral Wake- Keeping At Kokrobite

Six people have been injured, four in police custody after police officers from kokrobite district police headquarters allegedly assault taxi drivers during funeral wake keeping.

The incident happened at Kokrobite Goil feeling station where the drivers were directing the hearse carrying the corpse of one of the driver’s wife from creating traffic on Kokrobite road to allow free traffic.

According to the report, the police accused the taxi drivers for blocking the road with their cars and one police officer called

Sarpong started beating them with sticks and other police officers joined instead of helping them to direct the traffic.

At least, six drivers, including one passenger who was in one of the parked car has has been injured while the police has also arrested four drivers including the chairman of the drivers association at Kokrobite.

Angel TV In an interview with some of injured drivers, they said, they don’t no their crime as they were at the just directing the hearse from creating traffic and the police officers just came and started beating them with sticks.

They said, this is not the first time the police at Kokrobite District command has assaulted them, they keep on harassing the drivers including okada riders because they fail to give them money when they demand.

The drivers are therefore calling on the IGP, the Interior Minister to take swift action against the police officers and their commander at Kokrobite District police Command else they will also advice their selves.

The district station officer and his boys has also assaulted and sacked journalists who went to hear their side of the story.
