19-Year-Old Scrap Dealer Caught Stealing Car Spare Parts In Mankessim

A dramatic incident unfolded early this morning at *Abaka Kataka’s Fething Shop* in Mankessim’s Volta Bar area in the Mfantseman Municipality of central region, where a 19-year-old scrap dealer,
Abeiku, narrowly escaped being lynched after attempting to steal car spare parts. The event occurred around 5:30 AM at the shop, which is part of the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region.
Emmanuel Ayetse, an apprentice at *Abak Auto Mechanic Welding Shop*, recounted the moment he heard suspicious noises of someone packing items into a sack.
Acting quickly, Ayitsi quietly approached the scene and grabbed Abeiku, shouting for help. Nearby colleagues rushed in, tied the suspect to a pillar, and alerted the shop owner, Mr. John Abaka, popularly known
When Mr. Abaka arrived, he confirmed that *spare parts used for car repairs* were the stolen items, and expressed his frustration over repeated thefts at his shop.
Abeiku was reportedly beaten by the workers before being restrained on the pillar.
In an interview with *Douglas Oyiboh Amponsah* of Coastal FM and Angel TV, Mr. Abaka lamented the frequent thefts at his shop, allegedly by scrap dealers.
He revealed that security personnel had been employed to guard the premises, but Abeiku managed to strike during a brief moment when the guard went to the washroom.
Mr. Abaka issued a stern warning to scrap dealers, stating that anyone caught trespassing or stealing from his shop would face severe consequences, including being killed or burned alive.
He also called on Abeiku’s family to come and take him away, urging them to guide him to repent and refrain from future crimes.
This incident highlights the growing issue of theft in Mankessim, which has led to tensions between shop owners and scrap dealers.
