Fighting Security Personnel Weakens National Safety – Western Regional Police Commander

The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto, has cautioned that any country where citizens attack security personnel risks compromising its security system.

According to him, there have been numerous instances where civilians confront police and military officers, a development he described as a bad omen.

He explained that such actions send the wrong signal to the international community, suggesting that the country’s security system is weak and can be easily undermined.

DCOP Osei Akoto made the remarks at Gwira Banso during an inspection of a newly completed police station and an ongoing police quarters project at Gwira Banso in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region.

He further urged residents to safeguard the police station, emphasizing that it belongs to the community.

He also appealed to the public to desist from fighting police officers, stressing that such conduct only weakens the country’s security architecture.

The police commander, after the inspection, commended the chief and people of Gwira Banso for the initiative. He added that safe security is a shared responsibility and urged other communities to emulate Gwira Banso to help make the Western Region a safer place.

The chief of Gwira Banso, Nana Ette Akrade II, and the queen mother Nana Ajumo Esie also commended the Western Regional Police Commander for the inspection, noting that it was timely as drug abuse and illegal mining are on the rise in the area.
