Agona Kwanyarko Water Woes NDC Chairman Points Finger At Chief, Promises Tough Fight On Galamsey
The Central Regional Chairman of the Ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Richard Asiedu, has blamed the ongoing water crisis in Agona Kwanyarko on the actions of the Anum Apapam Chief, who he claims is a special assistant to former Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta.
Speaking to traditional leaders and residents during the annual festival at Agona Kwanyarko, Mr. Richard Asiedu expressed deep concern over the persistent water shortage that continues to affect households and businesses in the area.
He accused the Anum Apapam Chief of playing a key role in decisions that have worsened the water situation, alleging that his influence and interference in water management matters have stalled efforts to resolve the crisis.
Mr. Asiedu called on government and relevant authorities to intervene urgently, stressing that access to clean water is a basic necessity that should not be politicized or manipulated by individuals for personal gain.
According to the NDC Regional Chairman, the people of Agona Kwanyarko deserve immediate action and a lasting solution to the water problem, which has become a major concern for the community.
He further revealed that the NDC government, under the leadership of His Excellency the President, has deployed military personnel to galamsey sites across the country as part of a renewed effort to combat illegal mining and protect water bodies from destruction.
In a related development, Nana Ampem Darko, Odikro of Agona Kwanyarko, urged individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to support his educational fund aimed at assisting brilliant but needy children in the community.
He also called on the government to strengthen the education sector to ensure equal access to quality education and help every child reach their full potential.
Residents of Agona Kwanyarko continue to appeal for swift government intervention as the water shortage threatens public health and disrupts daily life.
