Torgbui Afede XVI Urges Ghanaians To Embrace Honesty

The Asogli Yam Festival, held in Ho, Point out the significance of honesty and integrity in nation-building. Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, delivered a keynote address, urging Ghanaians to reject Uncertain wealth and promote hard work, honesty, and diligence.
“The current state of our nation is a result of those who were assigned to protect it, but instead chose to milk it dry,” Togbe Afede lamented.
He linked illegal mining to corruption and called for collective action.
The festival was themed “Together in honesty and purpose, we build a just and prosperous nation.”
Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang commended the people of Asogli for upholding their rich traditions and values.
She highlighted the importance of the yam festival, which symbolizes patience, fertility, renewal, and community wealth.
The government’s Feed Ghana program was also showcased, with plans to deploy agricultural graduates to support farmers with modern techniques and research.
Special attention will be given to vegetable farming in the Volta Region through greenhouse technology and irrigation projects.
Togbe Afede further advocated for a constitutional review to make corruption unattractive and swiftly punishable.
The Awafiaga of Asogli echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of honesty in traditional leadership.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Laura Ranalli, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and chiefs from Ghana and Togo.
