Afigya Kwabere South Municipality Cracks Down On Residents Dirtying Environment, Issues 200 Notices Ahead Of Prosecution

In a determined push for a cleaner environment, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Afigya Kwabere South in the Ashanti Region, Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has revealed that the assembly has issued 200 letters to residents who persist in dirtying the municipality despite regular clean-up exercises.

The residents are set to face prosecution as the municipality seeks to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Hon Ankrah made this disclosure during a massive clean-up exercise at Ankaase-Hemang in the Afigya Kwabere South municipality.

She indicated that while significant progress has been made in cleaning communities across the municipality, some residents continue to litter and haven’t changed their unhealthy habits.

“They will soon be processed to court because we want to keep the municipal clean,” she stated.

Some residents and the assembly member for the area welcomed the municipality’s stance, suggesting that prosecuting offenders would serve as a deterrent to others who dispose of refuse

They commended the municipal assembly for organizing the clean-up exercise in their community, expressing hope that such actions would foster a culture of environmental cleanliness.
