Western Regional Hospital To Be Completed In 18 Months – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says the government has secured an agreement with creditors to release funding for the reconstruction of the over 250-bed capacity Western Regional Hospital at Apemenyim in the Ahanta West Municipality.
Construction of the hospital, which began in November 2022, remains at the foundation level after the contractor, Amandi, abandoned the site in November 2023 following the debt exchange programme.
However, President Mahama, who inspected the project—currently about 27% complete—during his one-day tour of the Western Region, expressed optimism that the hospital would be completed within one and a half years now that funding has been secured.
President John Mahama made this statement during a days working visit to the region.
The omanhene of Lower Dixcove , Nana Akwesi Agyeman , was not enthused that the oil rich region lacked such a facility, urging that the oil revenues could have been used to complete the project.
