Ayensuano Residents Cry Out Over Estate Developer’s Alleged Land Grabbing

Tension has escalated in several communities in the Ayensuano District, Eastern Region, including Asantekrom, Yaw Boame, Paulkrom, and others, following a violent land dispute.
Landguards allegedly hired by an estate developer assaulted local youth and farmers, brutally beating them over a disputed 4,000-acre land, sparking fear and concern among residents and peasant farmers.
Residents and peasant farmers in Asantekrom, Yaw Boame, Paulkrom, Ningo Panpanso, Agyarkwakrom,
Panpansonumase, Kyekyewere,Govinakrom and surrounding communities in the Ayensuano District are living in fear after a violent land dispute. Landguards allegedly assaulted local youth and farmers over a disputed 4,000-acre land.
The Chief of Asantekrom, Baffour Asante I, speaking at a news conference, stated that the affected communities are outraged and demanding immediate government intervention to protect their rights. describing the brutal attack, with landguards allegedly armed and warning locals to stay off the land.
Baffour Asante has alleged that the estate developer encroached on their land without consent.
He has appealed to the Ayensuano District Assembly Security Council to investigate the matter and take steps to prevent similar conflicts.
Meanwhile, some Affected community leaders are also calling on the government and security agencies to intervene promptly to protect them from further violence and ensure a peaceful resolution to the land dispute.
They are urging local authorities to step in, emphasizing that their livelihoods depend on the land and that eviction would threaten their food security and community stability.
The leaders are demanding swift action to resolve the situation and safeguard their rights.
