Lands Minister Retools Key Institutions, Awards Scholarships To Boost Development In Ellembelle

The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has donated two pickup trucks to the Ellembelle District Police Command and the District Assembly, as well as four motorbikes to key institutions in the district, to strengthen security, governance, and education.

The beneficiaries of the donation include the Ellembelle Police Command, District Assembly, NADMO, Education Directorate, Environmental Health Department, and the Works Department.

Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah explained that the gesture forms part of efforts to retool and empower local institutions to effectively deliver on their mandates.

He emphasized that government institutions tasked with protecting and serving the public must be well-resourced to function efficiently, adding that the logistics support will significantly enhance the operations of the police and other departments within the district.

In addition to the vehicle and motorbike donations, Hon. Buah, in collaboration with Ghana Gas, awarded scholarships to 315 tertiary students, each receiving between GH¢3,000 and GH¢5,000 under the Ellembelle District Scholarship Programme.

The Ellembelle District Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Agyekum, who gave details of the donations, also revealed that 50 physically challenged persons received GH¢2,500 each as startup capital from the District Assembly Common Fund to enable them to establish small-scale businesses and become self reliant.

He noted that these interventions form part of a broader district development plan aimed at promoting inclusive growth, enhancing education, and empowering the youth with employable skills.

Some scholarship beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the minister and Ghana Gas for the support, saying the initiative will enable them to focus on their studies without financial stress.
