Tension Boils In Agona Abodom Fear And Tears As Residents Cry Over Unwarranted Arrests

Tension is mounting in Agona Abodom in the Central Region as residents express fear and anxiety over what they describe as unwarranted arrests related to an ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the community.

Reports gathered by Angel TV’s Nana Kojo Asare, several residents have been picked up by the police in recent weeks, a development that has left many families in distress and fear for their safety.
The residents claim that the arrests are unjustified and have called on national authorities to intervene to restore peace and security in the area.

Some aggrieved residents who spoke off-camera to Angel TV expressed deep concern about the situation, stating that many men have fled the town or gone into hiding for more than three weeks, leaving their wives and children behind.
They say the atmosphere in the community has become tense and unsafe, especially at night, as residents live in constant fear of being arrested.

One distressed mother who spoke with tears said life has become unbearable without her husband, explaining that she can no longer cater for her children’s education and daily needs.
She, along with other affected families, appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the National Chief Imam, the National House of Chiefs, and the Central Regional House of Chiefs to step in and help resolve the crisis peacefully.

The Assembly Member for Agona Abodom, Hon. Alex Donkor, has also called on the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to intervene through the Central Regional House of Chiefs to ensure peace, unity, and stability return to Agona Abodom.
He emphasized that chieftaincy issues should not lead to division or unnecessary suffering among innocent residents.

Hon. Donkor further appealed to the Ghana Police Service to handle the situation with professionalism and fairness, adding that the peace of the community must be the top priority for all stakeholders.

As tension continues to mount, residents of Agona Abodom are pleading with traditional and government authorities to work swiftly to end the crisis and allow normal life to return to the community.
End.
