The District Director of Education in the Tain District of the Bono Region, Mr. Kwadwo Bofah has expressed deep concern over the increasing levels of student absenteeism within the District which are primarily attributed to the alarming trend of young individuals forgoing their academic responsibilities to seek financial gains at Galamsey sites in the area.

The Director Made this Pronouncement during the GES 2025 excellent awards in the Tain District to those students who had single digits in the BECE exams

According to the Director, This situation not only disrupts their educational progress but also exposes them to the hazardous environment and legal ramifications associated with such activities.

He disclosed that efforts are being put in place by leadership of the school to meet the parents and other relevant stakeholders to intervene to redirect these youths towards educational goals for safer and more constructive pursuits.

Mr. Eric Addo, a teacher in the Tain District, made an appeal to the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive of Tain to extend scholarships to students who achieve single-digit scores in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, similar to practices observed in other districts and regions by their MPs and MMDCEs.

He believes that such an initiative would serve as a motivation for students, encouraging them to enhance their educational experience and future opportunities.

An awardee, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, encouraged their juniors to diligently apply themselves to their studies, learn hard in order to achieve better grades and to secure a brighter future for themselves.
