Angels In Government, Evil In Opposition Attitude Cannot Stop Corruption In Ghana … Muosohene

Chief of Akyem Muoso Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman says the political approach of fighting corruption in Ghana has not helped and cannot help the State to overcome the corruption canker.

He says from the days of Nkrumah through to the military days to the fourth Republic, politicians have been playing with the conscience of Ghanaians with the fight of corruption.

Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman indicated that, the era when a certain group of people are powerful and angels when they are in government and in a matter of days becomes thieves when they leave power must stop.

He said this change of regime and its associated drama of plethora of corruption related expose has become the norm, predating the inception of the fourth Republic.

Speaking at the maiden YENSOM festival of the chiefs and people of Akyem Muoso, Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman mentioned that, the State anti corruption agencies and other investigative Bodies must work effectively regardless of whoever is involved in corruption.

Adding that, if a government official commits an offense while in government, the state institutions responsible for investigating and prosecuting corruption related matters must be seen to be taken actions.

 

Touching on illegal mining, Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman indicated that, if the menace of illegal mining is not tackled fearlessly, Ghana may import water and food before we can survive as a country.

The District Chief Executive for Atewa West Mr. Amo Johnson Anom expressed government commitment to partner the chiefs in development.

The Yensom festival is designed as a home-coming initiative aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence and strategic development in Akyem Muoso.

A ten year development plan was launched for the Muoso town which seeks to identify the immediate needs of Muoso and provides a roadmap for development through local initiatives and self-help projects.

The Muoso History Book was also launched at the festival.
