Assin Fosu Teacher Allegedly Commits Suicide Over Broken Heart

A young teacher identified as Prince Nkrumah, believed to be in his 30s and serving as an ICT teacher at Ansah Redeen Basic School in Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region, has tragically taken his own life, allegedly after investing in a nursing student who later left him for another man.

Some of his colleague teachers alleged that Prince had supported the lady both financially and emotionally through her nursing training. However, upon completion of her studies, she reportedly abandoned him and entered into a new relationship, leaving him heartbroken and depressed.

However, the Headteacher of the school Mr. Ebenezer Donkoh, confirmed the incident the death of Angel News, and revealed that Prince had recently shown signs of emotional distress.

When confronted, he attributed his change in behavior to the pupils’ poor academic performance, claiming they were not grasping ICT concepts well.

The school, concerned about his well-being, contacted his church leaders to provide moral and spiritual support.

On Thursday, Prince failed to report to school, prompting school authorities to send a team to check on him at his residence. Upon arrival, they found the door locked. After forcing it open, they discovered him lying motionless, having ingested a substance suspected to be weedicide.

He was rushed to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu, but sadly passed away on Sunday.

The deceased is said to hail from Mankessim and was undertaking his National Service with the Ghana Education Service.

A handwritten suicide note was reportedly found in the room, confirming his intent to end his life.
