Queenmother Of Drobo Calls On Omanhene To Perform Funeral Rituals Of Late Omanhene Or Face Destoolment

The Queenmother of the Drobo Traditional Council in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region calls on the Omanhene of Drobo to perform the funeral rites of his predecessor or face sanctions.

‎Speaking at a press conference at Drobo, Nana Amo Yeboah Asuamah, the Gyaasehene of the Drobo Traditional Area, speaking on behalf of the Queenmother and other sub chiefs and Queenmothers says that since the demise of the late Omanhene, Bɛyɛɛman Besea Gyinantwi, his successor and current Omanhene, OKYEREDƆM SAKYI AKO II, has failed to perform the funeral rites of the late Omanhene, a ritual that consolidates him as the paramount chief.

‎According to him, since 2018, Drobo Traditional Area is unable to celebrate the Munufie Festival since the chief of Drobo has not performed the funeral rituals of his predecessor but no amount of engagement convinces the chief of Drobo to perform the rites, even though he has, on several occasions, accepted to do so.

‎They are therefore call on him to perform the rites or face destoolment.

‎On his part, Okyeredom Sakyi Ako, the chief of Drobo says he has on several occasions shown readiness to perform the rites, but it is the Queenmother and her faction who are delaying the process.

He therefore calls on them to join him in preparing for the funeral rites so they can plan the ceremony together.
