The Police Should Not Be Treated Like Enemies – Western Regional Police Commander

The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwa, has emphasized the police’s pivotal role in community development, urging citizens to view them as partners, not adversaries.

He highlights their core responsibilities: upholding and enforcing laws, preventing and detecting crime, maintaining public order and safety, and protecting life, property, and human rights.

Operating within legal and ethical boundaries, the police investigate incidents, support victims, manage traffic, and ensure justice through arrests and evidence collection.

DCOP Abrokwa advises against vigilantism, encouraging citizens to use proper channels if officers err.

“Let’s work together to build a safer, more harmonious community,” DCOP Abrokwa says.

This message was conveyed during the inauguration of a police station and quarters in Ayiem, constructed by the Mpohor assembly and Ayiem Divisional Traditional Council to enhance security in the area.

Hon Kofi Bentil, MP for Mpohor District, echoes this sentiment, urging police officers to foster a cordial relationship with locals, rather than intimidating them.

“Your uniform should symbolize protection, not fear,” he notes.

Nana Okofo Akye Kwasi IV, Ayiem Divisional Chief, expresses concern over galamsey’s devastating impact on local river bodies, disrupting traditional practices.
