One Dead, About 10 Excavators Burnt In Violent Clash At Adelekezo

One person has been confirmed dead, while about ten excavators were burnt following a violent clash between the youth of Adelekezo and a mining community operating in the area.

Our reporter, Nana Fynn, gathered from the community that the clash escalated when a mining company, YAHS Mining, allegedly blocked the youth from accessing a route leading to their farms and work sites.

According to the youth, the blocked route is the only road they use to reach their farmlands and other economic activities.

Tensions reportedly rose when attempts by the youth to pass through the area were resisted by the mining company, leading to heated exchanges that later turned violent.
Eyewitnesses say the situation degenerated into chaos, resulting in the destruction of mining equipment, with about ten excavators set ablaze.

One person lost his life in the process, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Security personnel have since been deployed to the area to restore calm, as residents fear further violence if urgent steps are not taken to resolve the dispute.
