Premix Fuel Shortages Now A Thing Of The Past Under Government Reset Agenda…..National Premix Fuel Committee

The Administrator of the National Premix Fuel Committee, Dr. Ebo Mensah, has assured coastal and fishing communities that the long-standing challenges, shortages, and bottlenecks associated with premix fuel distribution are now a thing of the past, following reforms under the government’s Reset Agenda.

According to Dr. Mensah, government interventions aligned with Legislative Instrument (LI) 2233 have addressed key challenges, particularly in the areas of fair distribution and accountability.

He explained that premix fuel committees at various landing beaches are now mandated to account to the people and ensure that proceeds from premix sales are used for community development projects.

He further revealed that premix fuel is now transported directly from the Tema Oil Refinery to designated landing beaches, where it is distributed to fishermen without the involvement of third parties or middlemen.

Dr. Mensah pledged the committee’s continued commitment to transparency and accountability, stressing that all operations will remain consistent with the government’s Reset Agenda to fully address premix-related challenges and restore public confidence.

He made these remarks during the Premix Fuel Committee Accountability Series held at the Sekondi, New Takoradi, and Abuesi landing beaches in the Western Region.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for the Sekondi Constituency, Blay Armah Nyameke, expressed concern over the failure of some previous premix fuel committees to account for funds entrusted to them.

He pledged to follow due process to ensure that such officials are surcharged and made to account to the people.
