Underperformance Will Not Be Tolerated– Energy Minister Warns Ceo’s At 2025 Sector Review Retreat

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapo, has issued a strong warning to chief executives and heads of agencies in the energy sector that underperformance will not be tolerated under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking at the opening of the 2025 Energy Sector Performance Review Retreat in Takoradi, Hon. Jinapo reminded participants that public office is a privilege and not an entitlement, stressing that all appointments are made at the discretion of the President and come with clear expectations.

The 2025 Energy Sector Performance Review Retreat brings together the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and its agencies to assess performance, chart a reform agenda, and align strategies toward sustainable energy delivery and national development.

He noted that reshuffles are an inevitable part of every government and could affect ministers and chief executives alike, emphasizing that the decision on who stays or goes lies solely with the President.

The Energy Minister acknowledged the progress made in the sector, noting that the energy industry has been receiving positive public credit.

He urged stakeholders to sustain the momentum, warning that job security for sector leaders depends on continued delivery.

Looking ahead, Hon. Jinapo announced that 2025 will mark a turning point for the sector, with accelerated reforms across the entire energy value chain from power generation to distribution.

He cautioned sector leaders against allowing personal interests and emotions to stand in the way of national progress, urging them to think about the long-term impact of their decisions on Ghana.
