Minister Cautions PWDs In Awutu Senya West As they Receive Fufu Machines, Freezers, Cash As Startup Capital

The Deputy minister for works and housing hon. Gizella Tetteh has said, the Mahama led government and the Awutu Senya West District Assembly has taken a significant step toward promoting economic empowerment and social inclusion for Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the district.

Through the leadership of the District Chief Executive (DCE) and in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, the Assembly recently presented a wide range of livelihood-enhancing equipment to beneficiaries in the district.

She noted that the initiative, aimed at providing practical tools to improve the standard of living for PWDs, saw recipients receiving fufu-pounding machines, block-making machines, industrial sewing machines, deep freezers, and other vocationally tailored equipment.

These resources are expected to support the beneficiaries in generating sustainable income and achieving greater self-reliance.

She was Speaking in an interview with the media during the presentation of Freezers, fufu machines, laptop, cash and other startups equipment to 54 Persons with disabilities today, the minister for works and housing who doubles as MP for Awutu Senya West Hon. Gizella Tetteh reaffirmed the governments commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for all residents.

She emphasized that empowering vulnerable groups, particularly PWDs, remains a top priority for the local government, underscoring the Assembly’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and economically vibrant community.

Meanwhile, the District chief executive Hon. Kalala Nyamekye Eghan has encouraged them to make efficient and productive use of the equipment.

He highlighted that the Assembly’s investment in PWDs is a strategic move toward building a self-reliant district and urged community members to extend support and encouragement to the beneficiaries to ensure the sustainability of their ventures.
