NAIMOS Apprehends Two Chinese Nationals Involved In Illegal Mining At Pankese In Birim North

The NAIMOS Taskforce, deployed in the Eastern Region, has apprehended two Chinese nationals, namely Li Yongjin and Nou Chin Haw, at Pankese in the Birim North District, who were actively engaged in illegal mining activities.

The unlawful operations of these two foreign individuals have resulted in significant destruction of forests and cocoa farmlands in the area, and have severely polluted local streams, including the Birim River.

The Taskforce took measures to immobilize two excavators used by the Chinese illegal miners by removing their monitors and control boards, rendering them ineffective due to the immediate unavailability of lowbed services to the team.

Furthermore, the Taskforce destroyed various illegal mining equipment and items installed at the site, and burned all makeshift structures erected to facilitate the illegal mining activities.

Additionally, the team seized a Toyota Tundra Pickup with registration number AS 8120-20, found at the site and utilized by the two Chinese illegal miners.

End.
