Methodist Superintendent Minister Urges Believers To Be Spiritually Vigilance, Use Scripture To Identify Fake Prophecies

The Superintendent Minister of the Dormaa Circuit of the Methodist Church, Very Reverend Nicholas Afrifa, has called on the Christian community to exercise a high level of spiritual vigilance to avoid being misled by sensational and false prophecies.
In an interview with this reporter following a Covenant Sunday Service at the Dormaa Wesley Methodist Church, the Minister emphasized that the only way to distinguish between a genuine divine message and a deceptive one is by being deeply rooted in the Word of God.
He urged believers to use the Bible as a ‘measuring tool’ to compare and test every prophetic word they receive.
“Knowing the Word reveals many things to us. Those who truly rely on the Word of God do not depend on prophecies for their survival,” Very Rev. Afrifa stated.
He said, “while the gift of prophecy has not passed away, we must be very vigilant.
You must learn to take any prophecy given about your life and compare it to the Word of God to see if it aligns with His truth.” He advised.
The Superintendent Minister expressed concern over the rising trend of ‘vain prophecies’ delivered by individuals seeking fame and personal recognition.
He noted that these messages often lack divine backing and are designed to incite either fear or a false sense of security.
“It is unfortunate that because some people want to be famous, they give vain prophecies even when God has not spoken to them.
I urge Christians not to rely solely on prophecies.
You should not relax because someone told you that you are about to travel, nor should you live in fear because someone said you are going to die,” he cautioned.
As a practical step to safeguard his congregation, Very Rev. Afrifa revealed that he has vowed never to invite ‘unknown prophets’ to his pulpit who might use the sacred platform to deliver baseless and sensational claims.
Speaking on the theme for the day, ‘The Word Reveals Divine Light and Life,’ he reiterated that a deep understanding of the Scriptures provides the “Divine Light” necessary for discernment.
“The Word is our light and life. When you are knowledgeable in the Word, you will not be swayed by fear or panic.
If you know the Word, you will have the ability to identify what is truly from God and what is a fabrication of men,” the Minister concluded.
End.
