Twifo Praso Police Arrest 4 Inmates In Connection With The Killing Of Fellow Inmate In Custody

The Central North Regional Police Command has arrested four inmates in connection with the death of a fellow inmate at the Twifo Praso Police Cells in the Central Region.

The deceased, 40-year-old George Anim, was arrested on November 25, 2026, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl at Swedru Akuapem in the Assin Fosu Municipality.

He was transferred to the Twifo Praso Police Station for court processing.
However, on November 27, he was found dead in the cell he shared with other inmates under suspicious circumstances.

According to the family, visible bruises and blood stains were seen on the body during identification, raising strong suspicions of assault leading to his death.

In response, the Central North Regional Police Command, led by the Regional Commander DCOP Abraham Acquaye, launched a full investigation into the matter following a visit to the family by a police delegation.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased may have been involved in a violent altercation with other inmates, which allegedly resulted in him being severely beaten.

Four fellow inmates have since been arrested as suspects and are expected to be arraigned before court on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
