Ghana Applauded At CRC Session As Salaga South MP Records Successful Day One I0n Geneva

Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, Member of Parliament for Salaga South, recorded a successful first day at the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) session in Geneva.

During the engagement, Ghana received high commendation from the Committee for its strong commitment to child-friendly policies and reforms.

The country was particularly praised for efforts aimed at the elimination and reduction of child labour, teenage pregnancy, child sexual exploitation (including child pornography), and the use of corporal punishment.

Ghana’s progress highlighted at the session included the implementation of the Ghana Accelerated Action Plan Against Child Labour, policies to prevent teenage pregnancy among schoolgirls, and mechanisms that support re-entry into school after childbirth.

The Committee also acknowledged the country’s legal and policy framework designed to protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

The CRC session provides a platform for Ghana to showcase its achievements in advancing children’s rights, while also engaging with international experts to receive constructive feedback and recommendations for further improvement.
