Ekumfi Eyisam Chief Refutes Alleged Arrest Order, Dismisses Report As False

The Chief of Ekumfi Eyisam and the Twafohen of Ekumfi Traditional Area , Elder Dr. Nana Impream (VIII), has strongly refuted claims that He and the Ekumfi Traditional Council has ordered the arrest Ekumfi Eyisam youths following recent clash in Mankessim.

According to Nana Impream (VIII),a report aired on TV Stations and other media platform suggesting that, He and the Traditional Council had issued a directive for the arrest of Ekumfi Eyisam youths is entirely false and misleading.

He emphasized that neither He nor any other Chief within the Traditional Area has made such a pronouncement.
He however condemned the clash stating, that such actions are detrimental to the development of our communities.

He iterated that, there has never been any protracted dispute between the people of Ekumfi Eyisam and the people of Mankessim as being drummed by some media houses.
Our communities have lived peacefully together in many centuries and nothing should divide us as one People.

He also offered some pieces of advice to the Youth, quoting Heb. 14:19. “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and mutual edification”.
On Saturday night, January 3, 2026, some youths from Mankessim and Ekumfi Eyisam had violent confrontation at Mankessim Edumadzi.

The clash resulted in one man sustaining a severe eye injury, while several others were seriously wounded after being attacked with acid, cutlasses, and firearms.
The incident plunged the Mankessim township into fear and panic.

The unfortunate event has since generated widespread controversy, with some members of the public portraying Mankessim and Ekumfi Eyisam as rival communities.
Nana Impream (VIII) firmly rejected this narrative, stressing that the two towns have enjoyed centuries of peaceful coexistence and friendship.

He described the incident as serious but isolated, noting that it should not be misconstrued as evidence of rivalry between the two communities.
The Chief condemned the violence in the strongest terms and appealed for calm, urging that such acts should never be repeated.

He emphasized that peace cannot be achieved through the use of weapons such as guns, acid, or cutlasses, but rather through proper lawful channels, particularly engagement with traditional authorities and the security services.
Addressing the allegation that the Traditional Council ordered arrests, Nana Impream (VIII) clarified that, the news was born out of malice and mischief to tarnish his hard earned reputation.

He therefore described the report as fabricated and called on the media house responsible to retract the statement immediately.
He further reminded the public that the rule of law must prevail at all times, cautioning against taking the law into one’s own hands.

According to him, disputes of this nature can be resolved either at the palace or through the police, both of which are legitimate avenues for conflict resolution.
The Chief appealed to the public to trust the security agencies and allow them to carry out their duties without interference, rather than resorting to self-help, which often worsens tensions.

In conclusion, Nana Impream (VIII) expressed deep sympathy to all those who were injured during the clash.
Moreover individual who sustained the eye injury is currently receiving treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where an estimated GH¢45,000 has been requested to commence surgery.

The victim’s family has therefore appealed to the public for financial assistance, as the injured man remains in critical condition.
