One Illegal Miner Dead After Canoe Capsizes At Twifo Kotokye

A 21-year-old illegal miner, identified as Wofa Jonathan, has been confirmed dead after a canoe he was travelling in capsized on the River Pra at Twifo Kotokye in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.

According to the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Mamudu Pomasi Gasco, the deceased had been sent to purchase diesel for mining activities.

While returning, the canoe reportedly hit a rock in the river, causing it to capsize. The body of the deceased, a resident of Twifo Pewodie, was later retrieved from the river.

Police have since conveyed the body to the mortuary as investigations into the incident continue.
