Nkwanta South Municipality Poise To Provide Social Amenities To Island Communities

The Nkwanta south municipal assembly is poise in providing social amenities to its residents at the hinterlands to make life easy for them.

In view of this agenda, the member of parliament for Nkwanta south constituency and the municipal chief executive have commissioned 3unit classroom block at MMEM AKURA and cut sod for construction of another 3unit classroom block at MANFI KOPE and CHIPS COMPOUND with nurses quarters at vome.

In his address to the communities, the MP Hon. Geoffrey Kini urged them to patronized the facilities when completed in order to alleviate their plight of crossing the Oti river to access health care.

He therefore thanked the government and the assembly for providing a very important social amenities like health facility to island community like vome.

On his part, the municipal chief executive, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi cautioned beneficiary residents to desist from stealing materials meant for the projects across the beneficiary island communities.

According to him, all the projects will be completed within six months hence the need for the residents to protect the materials so that the project will be completed within the six months period.

He therefore warned the youth to stay away from stealing materials meant for the project which according to him, they will not spare anyone caught.

Meanwhile, the director of education, Mr. Jonathan Korsina even though happy about the provision of the classroom block and sod cutting for another classroom block, he is not enthused about lack of provision of teachers bungalows.

He argue that, majority of teachers are not residing at the island communities due to lack of teachers bungalow, he therefore called on the government and the assembly to factor in teachers bungalow in their subsequent projects.
