Woman Gruesomely Killed At Church Premises, Daughter In Critical Condition At Twifo Denyase Camp

Police at Twifo Praso have launched investigations into a horrifying incident at Twifo Denyase Camp in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region, that has left two people dead and one critically injured.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m., when a 30-year-old man identified as Hormeku Agbemor allegedly launched an unprovoked cutlass attack on a mother and her daughter.

The suspect was reportedly residing in the same house with the victims at the time of the incident.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Angel News said the suspect suddenly turned violent and inflicted multiple deep wounds on the two women. One of the victims, 62-year-old Baby Abienor, died instantly from the severe cutlass wounds she sustained during the attack.

Her daughter, identified only as Gladys, also suffered serious injuries, and was initially rushed to a nearby CHPS compound for emergency care but was later referred to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu due to the severity of her condition.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Twifo Praso District Police Command swiftly proceeded to the scene at Twifo Denyase Camp to commence investigations.

Police were led to a wooden structure belonging to The Apostolic Church Ghana and two adjoining rooms where the lifeless body of Baby Abienor was found lying face down in a pool of blood.

The deceased had deep fresh wounds on her neck and left arm, believed to have been inflicted with a cutlass.

Police were informed that the victim was attacked and killed by Hormeku Agbemor within the church premises where both the suspect and the victims were temporarily residing.

About 15 metres from the initial scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of the suspect, also identified as Hormeku Agbemor, with his hands and legs tied with rope and blood stains on his face.

This has led police to suspect that he may have been lynched by some angry residents in the community following the attack.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on the morning of the incident, the deceased woman, her daughter and the suspect were in the house when the suspect allegedly began exhibiting abnormal behaviour and verbally attacking them.

Sensing danger, Baby Abienor reportedly rushed to inform an elder in charge of the church about the situation.

However, by the time the elder arrived at the scene, he found the woman lying dead in a pool of blood, with the suspect standing nearby holding a cutlass and pleading for forgiveness after allegedly confessing to the killing.

The church elder quickly alerted the Assembly Member and other residents. Before they could return to the scene, the suspect was found lying dead a few metres away, believed to have been attacked by irate youth.

Police have since visited and documented the crime scene as part of ongoing investigations.

The remains of both the deceased woman and the suspect have been conveyed to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Investigations are ongoing.
