Gwl Uncovers Illegal Water Diversion At Water Factory In Klagon Mangers Arrested.

Officials of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Tema Region have uncovered an alleged illegal water connection at a sachet and bottled water production facility at Klagon in the Tema West Constituency.

The facility, identified as Voltic Cool Mineral Water, is suspected to have diverted treated water from the main supply line for its operations over an extended period without authorisation.

The alleged malpractice came to light after a Revenue Enhancement Team from GWL, supported by security personnel, stormed the premises as part of an intensified nationwide crackdown on illegal water usage.

Tema Regional Communications Manager of GWL, Sampson Ampah, told journalists that investigations revealed the company had concealed the unauthorised connection beneath waste pipes in an apparent attempt to avoid detection.

However, intelligence gathered by the Revenue Taskforce led to the discovery.

He stressed that such illegal connections deprive GWL of critical revenue required to maintain water infrastructure, expand services, and ensure reliable supply to households and businesses.

Mr. Ampah further appealed to the public to volunteer information on suspected cases of illegal water use, meter tampering, bypassing, or unauthorised connections. He assured that the identities of informants would be protected.
