Akrodef Launched To Drive Development In Mining – Affected Communities In Kwahu West.

The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with Chiefs of Obomeng and Obo has officially launched the Akroma Gold and Stools Development Fund (AKRODEF) to promote development in communities affected by mining activities of Akroma Gold within the municipality.

The formation of the Àkrodef is aimed at ensuring that mining operations in the area translate into meaningful and sustainable benefits for local residents.

At a brief ceremony to outdoor the foundation, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu West, Tamimu Halidu, stated that AKRODEF will prioritize key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and environmental protection.

He emphasized that the initiative will also strengthen the corporate social responsibility efforts of Akroma Gold Mining Company in the municipality.

The MCE explained that the formation of the foundation demonstrates the strong partnership between the Municipal Assembly and traditional authorities, working together to ensure that proceeds and benefits from mining activities positively impact the lives of the people.

The Obomenghene, Odeefour Effah Opinamang III, reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability in the management of the foundation’s funds and projects.

He urged stakeholders, including mining companies and development partners, to support the initiative to guarantee long-term and sustainable development in the affected communities.

The Chairman of AKRODEF, Solomon Otu, alongside Public Relations Officer of Akroma Gold Mining Company, Enoch Agblo assured the public that the foundation will serve as a bridge between the company and the host communities to address development challenges and promote mutual understanding.
